Rodgers delighted with Leicester victory over Norwich

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers was left delighted after their 3-0 win against Norwich City.

Jamie Vardy scored twice as Leicester condemned relegated Norwich to a fifth consecutive Premier League defeat.

Vardy's double ensured the Foxes ended their own seven-game winless run in all competitions and sees them move up to 10th in the table.

It was no more than Brendan Rodgers' side deserved as they dominated possession, although they struggled to make a breakthrough until Vardy's opener, which deflected off Norwich defender Grant Hanley before looping over visiting goalkeeper Angus Gunn.

Harvey Barnes, who created Vardy's first, also supplied the second for the 35-year-old, who timed his run to perfection before firing into the top left corner.

As Leicester moved through the gears, James Maddison blasted an effort into the roof of the net against his former employers, with Gunn unfortunate to see the ball into his path after failing to collect Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's cross.

Rodgers said: "I thought it was a good win for us. Bit slow in the first half, both in our game with the ball and our counter pressing. We were not aggressive enough but in the second half from the first roll of the ball I thought the players were outstanding.

"Overall very pleased for the players. Angus made some great saves. We finished the game really well. Really good goals. We kept going right to the end.

"Jamie has missed a lot of games this season but it is more about the collective. The finishes were great, we always have to manage him. For us it is about the team.

"That's the plan, finish as high as we can. We didn't want the season to go out with a whimper. Tonight was a good performance and a good result."
