Rodgers defends Liverpool successor Klopp: I've done the same at Ibrox!

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has become the latest manager to defend Jurgen Klopp for his celebration in Sunday's Merseyside derby.

The Liverpool manager ran onto the pitch and hugged Alisson after Divock Origi scored the game's only goal in injury time.

Pep Guardiola leapt to Klopp's defence yesterday, and now the German's predecessor has done the same.

He said: "We all have our moments. I'm very focused in the game and sometimes especially in those moments when you score, because that's a period when you can be vulnerable straight after.

"But I've had those moments, I know when we've scored at Ibrox I've run up the touchline.

"Something just takes over you emotionally, and you can pretend you won't do it, but it's just something that just comes across you when it means so much.

"I've been involved in that Liverpool v Everton game and it's a hugely emotional game, especially at Anfield.

"So for Liverpool to get the late goal how they did, it was just a rush of emotion.

"I think for Jurgen, bless him, if there were two pitches he would have probably ran right across them all!"
