Robertson or Tierney must play right-back for Scotland - McGrain

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson may have to play in a new position for Scotland.

The left back is used to starring on that side of the pitch for both club and country And he is currently the left wing back in a 5-3-2 formation, with Kieran Tierney from Celtic at left centre-back.

However, many feel that it is not a formation that suits Scotland. And both players are left backs at club level.

Former Celtic star Danny McGrain believes the solution is to play four at the back, with one of the star left backs moving to right back.

McGrain said to theLiverpool Echo: "One of them is going to have to learn to kick with their right. It's as simple as that.

"Andy and Kieran have been used to playing at left-back their whole life.

"The most important thing is getting the ball into the box. When I played left-back my biggest fear was getting up the park and six times out of 10 I would slam the ball out the field.

"My left foot was crap. So I worked really hard for two or three days a week on my left foot. My happiest time is when I went up the park, kept the ball in and crossed it.

"I didn't give a toss who was on the end of it as I was just delighted to keep it in the park.

"The Scotland manager has to make that call about who plays where.

"One of those players just has to make their weaker foot stronger."
