Melle Meulensteen has spoken of his time with Manchester United's academy.

The son of former United coach Rene Meulensteen, Melle is now playing in Holland with RKC Waalwijk.

"When I was seven, I went to United. How did I get there? By my dad. They said that I should only start training. They thought me good enough, so I was allowed to stay," he recalled to Voetbal International.

"Marcus Rashford is a year older than me, but I trained regularly with him. Also with Scott McTominay, he is on the bench at United, but played last season under José Mourinho. A few other guys from my old team have already debuted, like Angel Gomes. He is a good friend, we still have contact often."
