River Plate president Rodolfo D'Onofrio concedes they could soon lose coach Marcelo Gallardo to Europe.

Gallardo has just guided River to the final of the Copa Libertadores against Flamengo amid talk of interest from Barcelona.

D'Onofrio said, "The future president will have the problem of the post-Gallardo, because if he leaves, he will leave with me.

"My term ends in 2021 and that of Gallardo ends at that time too. I hope he will continue and that he will still be here many years. The contract has established nothing economic, he has absolute freedom.

"I did not think he could leave for Madrid, but you have to have ready. It is likely that Barcelona or Real Madrid will come."
