River Plate defender Ramiro Funes Mori appears set to join Everton following reports the two clubs have agreed on a £5million transfer fee for the 24-year-old.

The Daily Mail is reporting Toffees head of recruitment Kevin Reeves has been in Argentina laying the groundwork for a deal to be completed.

Spanish outfit Villarreal are also said to be interested in the Argentine international, but are yet to match the Merseyside club's offer.

Funds Mori is seen by Everton as a replacement for the departed Sylvain Distin and Antonio Alcaraz.
