Rivaldo urges Douglas Costa to push for Man City move

Brazil great Rivaldo would like to see Juventus midfielder Douglas Costa move to Manchester City.

Douglas Costa, now 29, has been linked with City ahead of the summer market. The Brazil international has battled through an injury-plagued campaign, but has won the praise and admiration of coach Maurizio Sarri despite his lack of minutes. But an adductor injury suffered in defeat at Udinese last week could well spell the end of Douglas Costa's season.

The setback is expected to keep him out for 15 days, says Juve, making him a slim chance of being available for their Champions League campaign. Juve resume the competition at the round of 16 stage with a second-leg against Lyon. Juve will host the second-leg trailing 1-0 on aggregate.

Despite Douglas Costa's woes, Rivaldo would like to see him push to leave - with City and Pep Guardiola his favoured option.

And via Fotbolltransfers.com, Rivaldo wrote for Betfair: "If you look at the transfer market, I think that Douglas Costa from Juventus to Manchester City can be an interesting opportunity.

"Costa has not played too much in Juve and can find a bigger stage to shine in City, as it seems to be a club that wants to recruit him.

"A professional career is short, so it will be important to find a new club where he can play more regularly. He's a great player that I really admire."
