As Guardiola celebrates his second Premier League title in a row, his old Barcelona teammate believes he could move on as soon as this summer.
And he believes that it is La Liga that would tempt Guardiola to part with a club where he has enjoyed nothing but success.
It goes against the view of many pundits, who believe the Catalan would not leave City without winning the Champions League.
"I believe Pep will have other opportunities and new projects to think about this summer and, despite his apparent satisfaction at the Etihad, perhaps a good proposal from a Spanish club could interest him," Rivaldo told Betfair.
"I'm saying this because Pep doesn't like to be away from his family and friends and really enjoys the time spent with them, so a possible return to Spain would be helpful."
