Barcelona great Rivaldo is backing Rangers boss Steven Gerrard to take Ianis Hagi with him to Liverpool.

Rivaldo previously saw the 22-year-old play alongside his son, Rivaldinho, at Viitorul Constanta.

"I am sure Gerrard will go to Liverpool one day," the Brazil legend was quoted as saying by Romanian journalist Emanuel Roşu (@Emishor on Twitter).

"Maybe Ianis Hagi could make the step with him and follow him to Anfield."

Gerrard has dismissed speculation suggesting he will take over as Liverpool manager in the short term.
