Kieran Richardson says Philippe Senderos will prove himself a great signing for Aston Villa.
Both Fulham players have arrived on free transfers this summer.
"Phil was at Fulham with me and he is a top pro," Richardson told the Birmingham Mail.
"He's a good centre-half and I'm sure he'll give 100 per cent.
"He's played for Arsenal, Milan, Everton. His resumé is very good and a player like that doesn't play for those clubs for no reason. He's a top, top guy, he's very good in the dressing room. He's a leader and he does talk a lot, which is good.
"Vlaar's had a great World Cup. I've been very impressed, when I've played against him as well in numerous games he has been a stand-out figure at the back.
"Hopefully he can come back from the World Cup and continue his form. Playing so well breeds confidence so I'm sure he'll be on a high."
