Rice reveals West Ham held crisis talks before Liverpool draw

West Ham United held crisis talks before their inspiring draw with Liverpool.

The Hammers went behind early in the game, but rallied back to get a massive point against the league leaders.

According to midfielder Declan Rice, the players got together after their 3-0 loss to Wolves and were determined to put things right.

"After that January we had, where we lost a load of games, we had a meeting and said, 'Look boys, we all need to pull our fingers out', because it was not West Ham and not the results we want," revealed Rice to reporters after the game.

"The players said after the Wolves game that we needed to sort it out. We had watched the Wolves game back and saw the problems that we were creating and the things we were doing. Last night, we changed it around.

"We worked hard off the ball. Wolves scored two goals from set-pieces but we were [good] with them against Liverpool. We cleared just about every ball, had runners running off us, just the basics really — going back to the basics of football that we did not do in the last three games.

"[AFC] Wimbledon wanted it more than us [in the FA Cup] and they won, the same with Bournemouth and the same with Wolves. Last night, I think we wanted it more than Liverpool. We were fighting for everything and came out with a point."
