RFEF apologise to Real Madrid for disallowed goal

The Spanish Federation has apologised to Real Madrid for a goal disallowed in victory over Elche.

The RFEF admitted that they made a mistake in chalking off David Alaba's first half effort against Elche, as they had ruled Karim Benzema offside in the build-up at the time.

Benzema himself had two strikes ruled out, although he eventually managed to get on the scoresheet in the 75th minute to mark his first goal since winning the Ballon d'Or.

AS says the federation sent a letter outlining their error, and promised to work to remove similar mistakes from their procedures in future.

As it was, the mistake did not influence the eventual result of the game, with Los Blancos running out 3-0 winners, with goals from Federico Valverde, Benzema and Marco Asensio.
