REVEALED: Zidane had Mane deal days before quitting Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane is expected to revive plans to bring Liverpool striker Sadio Mane to Real Madrid.

Mane was a target for Zidane before the end of last season as he identified the Senegalese as a potential replacement for Gareth Bale.

France Football says a deal was in place for Mane to move to the Bernabeu - only for Zidane to sensationally quit.

Zidane was a big admirer of the forward and had him at the top of his list of potential targets before his departure.

The move failed to materialise after Julen Lopetegui's arrival with Mane then signing a new deal at Liverpool in November.

Mane is settled on Merseyside and is contracted until 2023 but in the past, he has refused to rule out a future switch.

"I am very happy in Liverpool but you never know what will happen in the future," Mane said when quizzed about his future on the eve of this season.
