New Barcelona signing Nelson Semedo was turned down by Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane earlier this summer, it has been revealed.

Barca confirmed last night a €30m deal with Benfica for Semedo, who will undergo a medical on Friday.

Don Balon says Semedo's agent Jorge Mendes also offered the fullback to Real - but the proposal was turned down flat by Zidane. Zidane still expects Real to sell Danilo this summer, however that didn't influence the coach's thinking.

Instead, Zidane believes Achraf Hakimi, 18, has a great chance to emerge as a first-choice right-back at Real. Zidane rates Hakimi a bigger talent than Semedo and is reason why he turned down Mendes' offer last month.
