The talk over Newcastle United's interest in Bruno Genesio has been rumbled.

The former Lyon coach has been linked with the Toon job - and contact has been confirmed by his agent Pini Zahavi.

Genesio has hired Zahavi to find him a club in England and the agent admits talks were held with Peter Kenyon as he led a consortium seeking to buyout Newcastle owner Mike Ashley.

Zahavi explained to L'Equipe that Genesio was only Kenyon's candidate, and that he "will find something else for Bruno".

Ultimately, Kenyon's group dropped out of the running to buy the Magpies at the end of last season.
