Departing Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and Leicester City manager Claude Puel are both being linked with a planned takeover of St Etienne.
American businessman and former AS Monaco director Jerome de Bontin is heading a US group aiming to buyout St Etienne.
Local journalist Nabil Djellit says De Bontin has approached Wenger and Puel about getting involved.
He posted to social media: "In the running for the purchase of Saint Etienne, businessman Jérôme de Bontin, at the head of an American pension fund, has approached Arsène Wenger and Claude Puel to give them a major role in the Verts, in case of positive finalisation of the agreement ... To be continued."
