REVEALED: Txiki had to convince Guardiola to accept Man City Haaland deal

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wasn't initially convinced about signing Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

City are paying around £60m for the Norway international, who will join this summer.

The Athletic says Guardiola's favoured choice was Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who was blocked from joining City last summer.

City sports director Txiki Begiristain was forced to convince Guardiola that Haaland was the man.

Begiristain is also said to have been instrumental in convincing the 21-year-old that the Premier League, and not La Liga, was the right choice for his next move.

It's also claimed City will pay €40m in agents' fees. The money is to be distributed between father Alf Inge Haaland and Mino Raiola's team after the agent's passing.
