Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was handed a puppet before their Europa League clash with Augsburg.

The Liverpool Echo says Henderson was handed a bizarre gift by Augsburg captain Paul Verhaegh before their Europa League tie on Thursday.

The England international is now the proud owner of a cat called Mikesch, an animal puppet on strings.

There was also a Punch and Judy show on the big screens during the pre-match warm up which bemused most of Jurgen Klopp's men.

Augsburg is famed for its puppet theatre but the match lacked drama as they held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw.
