The demands of former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte proved too much for Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, it has been revealed.
El Pais says Conte and Florentino did indeed hold talks about the Italian taking charge of Real after the dismissal of Julen Lopetegui.
However, Conte's demands were just too much for the Real president to consider handing him the job.
The former Juventus coach wanted a salary of €10m, a long-term contract, massive investment to improve the current squad, full control of transfers and an insistence that all five of his assistants be hired.
Yesterday, Real announced Santiago Solari as new first team coach to 2021.
