Chelsea coaching staff are surprised by the arrival of veteran goalkeeper Robert Green.
The Times says the decision came as a surprise to new manager Maurizio Sarri's staff.
Green has penned a one-year deal at Stamford Bridge following his release by Huddersfield Town.
Sarri and his staff allegedly had nothing to with the decision to bring in Green and had instead drawn up a list of alternative targets, only to be ignored by the club hierarchy.
Green's arrival boosts Chelsea's home-grown quota which is believed to be the driving force behind the decision to sign the ex-Leeds shot-stopper.
Despite having no say in the deal, Sarri is apparently not annoyed by Green's signing as he has little intention of ever using him in a competitive fixture.
