REVEALED: Ronaldo pushed Rangnick to give him Man Utd captaincy

Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo attempted to take the Manchester United captaincy from Harry Maguire last season.

Ronaldo, who left United by mutual consent this past winter, was not getting along with the England international.

Ronaldo's relationship with then interim coach Ralf Rangnick was not the best either.

According to ESPN, Ronaldo felt he should have been the club's captain at the time.

He believed that having won trophies and played at other top clubs, he had more experience than Maguire.

However, Rangnick refused to take the armband off Maguire, for fears of creating further dressing room imbalance.
