Zinedine Zidane urged the Real Madrid board to shop in the Premier League last season, it has been revealed.

While dead against the obsession of Real president Florentino Perez in bringing former Barcelona star Neymar back to Spain from PSG, Zidane was eager to see his attack improved going into last summer's transfer window.

El Pais says before his resignation, Zidane had recommended the signings of Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard, Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Liverpool sensation Mohamed Salah.

However, ultimately all three names were vetoed by the Real board and Zidane eventually stepped down just days after winning the Champions League final in Kiev.
