Sacked Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac rejected Everton earlier this season, it has been revealed.

Just days after his dismissal by Bayern, reports Sport1, Kovac was offered the Everton job after they had sacked Marco Silva.

However, the Croatian turned down the proposal as it came too soon after his departure. Everton would eventually appoint former Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Kovac says he is planning to return to management this summer.

"There are many good leagues, England, Spain, and the Bundesliga is always interesting," said Kovac this week.
