Jose Mourinho played a key role in Fred joining Manchester United, it has been revealed.
Mourinho brought Fred to United in the summer of 2018, paying £52million in order to sign him from Shakhtar Donetsk.
In the time since, though, it's been claimed that the Tottenham boss never actually wanted the Brazilian at Old Trafford.
Fred barely played under Mourinho but has since emerged as a key player for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, shining alongside the likes of Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic in the middle of the park.
And Bleacher Report claim Mourinho had actually texted Fred repeatedly during negotiations prior to his arrival.
It's claimed the Tottenham boss told the midfielder he'd be a regular fixture in his side, alongside both Pogba and Nemanja Matic.
But that didn't happen, with Fred on the fringes of the action.
