Roma had the chance to sign Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, it has been revealed.
However Sevilla chief Monchi, then with Roma, turned down the then Racing Club star.
“I had offered Lautaro Martinez to Roma in January 2018 for €8m," agent and intermediary Luis Ruzzi told Tuttomercatoweb.
“That was the release clause that Racing had at that moment, but the Giallorossi didn't take it up. There were also talks with Atletico Madrid that were important, but didn't turn into anything concrete.
“On January 20, the Racing President changed the clause, raising it to €20m, and then Inter did the rest."
