Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have money to spend in January.
The Daily Star says United have set aside £70million for the next transfer window.
The bumper kitty will be made available to Solskjaer if the club feel they are in a position to sustain a genuine title challenge.
That is a measure of United's ambitions this season following the summer arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.
That trio cost more than £150m and the Old Trafford hierarchy believe it should put them in contention for their first Premier League success since Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge in 2013.
While that also cranks up the pressure on Solskjaer to meet those expectations.
He knows if United are in the hunt for domestic glory at Christmas, he will also be given the financial backing for a major push in the run-in.
