REVEALED: Man Utd secure first option for Sporting CP teen Luis Gomes

Manchester United are eyeing Sporting CP teen Luis Gomes.

The Mirror says the 16-year-old signed his first professional deal last week but is already being hailed as the next Luis Figo in Portgual.

Although the youngster is now on a five-year deal at Sporting, United have agreed a first-refusal option should they decide to sell – complete with a £14million transfer fee.

United have previously taken Portugal stars Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Bruno Fernandes from Sporting.

Atletico Madrid had made enquiries about Gomes, but he chose to stay in Lisbon – while Old Trafford is his ultimate destination.

Gomes has been tipped to become the latest in a string of world-class talents produced by Sporting's academy, including Ballon d'Or winners Figo and Ronaldo.
