Manchester United are pushing to offload Chris Smalling before the market shuts.
While talks have dragged on with Roma over a permanent deal, after his successful loan last season, United are in contact with Serie A rivals about the defender.
Inter Milan have been in contact as one alternative, with United seeking £18m to sell.
And Il Messaggero says in talks yesterday with Lazio over the departure of Andreas Pereira, United offered to also include Smalling in the deal.
Whether Smalling would be willing to sign for Roma's city rivals is another matter, but United are desperately trying to find a new club for the England international before the transfer window closes.
