Manchester United have made tentative contact with Sevilla for Jules Kounde.
The French defender attracted an approach from Manchester City over summer before they signed Ruben Dias from Benfica. However, their offer fell short of Sevilla's valuation.
Now ahead of the January market, reports Mundo Deportivo, United have registered their interest.
But Sevilla have warned it will take huge money to land Kounde, 22.
The LaLiga outfit are insisting the centre-half will only leave for the €80m buyout clause in his current contract.
