Yaya Toure has dug in his heels at Manchester City, it has been revealed.
On the day he was omitted from City's Champions League squad, reports Sport, he was encouraged by directors to terminate his contract in a meeting.
City chiefs, recognising his presence would be a concern for manager Pep Guardiola, offered Toure a free transfer.
However, the veteran midfielder rejected the proposal and has decided to rundown the final year of his deal.
Yesterday, speaking Sport-Express, Toure's agent Dimitri Seluk said: "Yaya is a great professional and wants to show that despite some decisions that are not understood will continue his work as usual."
