Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp approved bids for two alternative centre-halves yesterday before settling on Schalke defender Ozan Kabak, it has been revealed.
Having agreed a deal for Ben Davies with Preston the previous day, Liverpool clinched the signing of Kabak in the afternoon of deadline day.
But RMC says Liverpool didn't turn to the Turkish youngster before failing to reach agreement with Olympique Marseille for Duje Caleta-Car. A bid of €23m for the Croatia international was rejected by OM.
Then Liverpool made an attempt for Lyon veteran Marcelo.
However, both the 33 year-old veteran and OL turned down the Reds approach.
