Liverpool rejected an approach from Nottingham Forest for Nat Phillips in January, reports have claimed.
The 23-year-old was named man-of-the-match for his performance against RB Leipzig on Wednesday.
His resolute defending helped Liverpool claim a 2-0 win on the night and 4-0 aggregate win to progress to the Champions League quarter-finals.
But things could have been much different for Phillips had Liverpool accepted an offer from Forest, according to Football Insider.
The Reds have had to deal with a number of injuries at centre-back, which has allowed Phillips to shine on the big stage.
