Leeds United made a serious pitch to trump Lille for their bumper signing Jonathan David.
L'Equipe says before the striker signed for LOSC, he fielded a personal call from Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa. Indeed, Leeds did everything they could to convince David to move to England over France.
Leeds sporting director Victor Orta spoke several times with the agent of David as they attempted to convince the Canada striker about moving to Elland Road.
But in the end David chose Lille, where he arrives as a direct replacement for new Napoli signing Victor Osimhen.
The striker joined LOSC from Gent for €32m.
