REVEALED: Klopp spoke 'several hours' with Mbappe about Liverpool move

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp had a chance of landing PSG superkid Kylian Mbappe before he left AS Monaco last year, it has been revealed.

L'Equipe says Liverpool have had an eye on the Frenchman since his earlier days at Monaco and were ready to make a move for him following his breakout year in Ligue 1.

However, not even Klopp's charm could sway Mbappe after the German boss spent 'several hours' trying to convince him to join Liverpool.

The Premier League side were even willing to make the teenager the club's joint-highest earner alongside Philippe Coutinho following his heroics in the Champions League and Ligue 1 for Monaco.

While Mbappe was impressed with Klopp's 'eloquent and enthusiastic' approach but he opted to stay in France and secure his staggering £166m move to the French capital.
