Hertha Berlin chief Michael Preetz has met with Liverpool this week about on-loan midfielder Marko Grujic.
BILD says Preetz held talks with Reds football chief Michael Edwards, who was in Germany to scout Champions League opponents Bayern Munich.
Preetz has made it clear they want to extend Grujic's stay into next season - in whatever form of transfer Liverpool deem appropriate.
Edwards insists they do not want to sell the midfielder - and turned down an offer from Cardiff City last month.
And it was also made clear to Preetz that the only chance of keeping Grujic next season will be if Hertha secure European football for next season.
