REVEALED: Hertha Berlin almost landed Klopp before Liverpool appointment

Hertha Berlin made an attempt to beat Liverpool to the appointment of manager Jurgen Klopp, it has been revealed.

BILD says Hertha made a serious move for the then Borussia Dortmund coach in 2015.

Hertha chief Michael Preetz held talks with Klopp's adviser Marc Kosicke and the meeting broke up with a positive response from Klopp's end of the table.

It's revealed that Klopp was interested in the post, with Kosicke's feedback being the "location, tradition, potential and the challenge could appeal to him".

Ultimately, however, the subject was not further examined.

Klopp would later join Liverpool after seven years with Borussia Dortmund.
