Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl blocked Jannick Vestergaard from joining Leicester City last month, it has been revealed.
Ekstra Bladet says Vestergaard was all set to sign for the Foxes, only for his manager to intervene.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers had given the green light for a cash offer to buy the defender outright in the final week of the winter market, but Hasenhuttl moved late to block the deal.
"I heard that there was interest from the outside in the transfer window, which is always positive, but I cannot comment on specific club names," said Vestergaard last week.
"I take it that the club and the manager had so much confidence in me that the manager wanted to keep me."
