Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was able to find a new gear in Nemanja Matic after crunch talks.
The Times says the Serbian had a strained relationship with Solskjaer and had barely featured in the Premier League last season.
However, after Matic and Solskjaer decided to “clear the air" the 31-year-old midfielder has been an almost ever present in the starting 11.
He has rediscovered his best form which is why United decided to trigger the one-year option in his contract earlier this month.
Indeed, before the coronavirus suspension, Matic had become first-choice for his manager.
