Manchester United failed with a late move for Lokomotiv Moscow striker Fyodor Smolov last month, it has been revealed.
Smolov signed for Celta Vigo on-loan 48 hours before the January deadline fell to the end of the season.
And Faro de Vigo says Smolov chose to go through with the Celta agreement despite a late attempt made by United.
United moved for Smolov before securing a loan arrangement for Shanghai Shenhua striker Odion Ighalo, but the Russian didn't wish to go back on his agreement with Celta.
Smolov has managed two appearances for Celta since his January 30 arrival.
