Manchester United legend Eric Cantona is behind their move for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.

Dembele left Celtic on deadline day at the start of the season, earning the Scottish champions £18m.

The 22-year-old has since impressed in Ligue 1 and has caught the eye of United chiefs, notably Cantona.

The Old Trafford favourite works as an ambassador for the club and has reportedly recommended Dembele as a worthwhile summer signing.

And United lodged a £35m offer for the striker yesterday.
