REVEALED: Bielsa urged Spurs boss Pochettino to go for Batshuayi

Tottenham made a deadline day attempt for Michy Batshuayi last week, it has been revealed.

Spurs did not sign a single player for the second transfer window in a row but tried to swoop for the 25-year-old striker at the last minute, but he eventually signed for Crystal Palace.

DH reported Chelsea held talks with Spurs and were demanding a huge loan fee of around £8million.

Despite Tottenham's willingness to meet their valuation, the Blues finally decided against the move as they did not want to strengthen a direct rival.

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa is a close friend of Mauricio Pochettino and recommended Batshuayi to the Spurs boss.

Bielsa worked with Batshuayi at Marseille.
