Bayern Munich passed on Borussia Dortmund whizkid Jadon Sancho a year ago, it has been revealed.
The teenager is being celebrated across Europe after making his England debut last week.
BILD says Bayern made initial enquiries with Manchester City last year, but after coaching staff were unconvinced, they chose to end their interest.
Instead, BVB stepped in, as sports director Michael Zorc confirmed: "We had Jadon scouted very early in the youth teams. At the time there was already great interest from the Premier League - and also from top clubs from other countries.
"I think he has chosen BVB because we've been committed to the best young European talent for more than a decade, we trust them, give them plenty of playing time and make them better and better."
