REVEALED: Arsenal prepared to sell captain Aubameyang before transfer deadline

Arsenal are prepared to sell captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the transfer deadline.

The Telegraph says Arsenal will not stand in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's way if he finds another club willing to take on his wages, according to reports.

Aubameyang has endured the most difficult 12 months of his Gunners career, having signed a bumper new contract in September last year.

The club captain was completely ruled out of the defeat to Brentford, while his late cameo against Chelsea wasn't enough to turn the tide.

And with Mikel Arteta facing increasing pressure to sign more players before the August 31 deadline, a number of players, including Aubameyang, could be moved on.

While the forward remains in Arteta's plans, he is no longer deemed indispensable should an appropriate offer come in.

His huge £250,000-per-week salary means it remains unlikely he will be sold before August 31, but the mere fact that Arsenal are open to his exit shows how far his stock has plummeted.
