Reuter hails ex-West Ham defender Oxford after new Augsburg deal

Former West Ham United defender Reece Oxford is delighted with his new contract at FC Augsburg.

The defender has penned terms to 2025.

"I have felt at home in Augsburg since moving to FCA and have developed into a significantly better footballer here," Oxford said, explaining his decision. “I am convinced that my development is far from over and that FCA is exactly the right club for me.

"They have placed an enormous amount of trust in me."

FCA chief Stefan Reuter also said: "Reece has developed into an absolute top performer with us. He is not only very important for our game on the defensive, but is also extremely dangerous when it comes to set pieces.

"We were already absolutely convinced of his potential when he signed up in 2019. Because of this conviction, we started talks with him about a contract extension after the end of last season and we are very pleased that Reece has clearly committed to FCA."
