Rennes striker Gyan on verge of Sunderland move

Rennes striker Asamoah Gyan is on the verge of becoming Sunderland's record signing according to reports.

The Ghana international has been in talks with Blacks Cats officials, including chairman Niall Quinn, and it seems as though a deal is likely despite the fact that Rennes want about £15million for him.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is hoping to bring in a quality replacement for Kenwyne Jones who joined Stoke City earlier this month and news that Fraizer Campbell may be sidelined for some time after injuring his knee against Manchester city on Sunday will prompt Bruce to move quickly.
