Rennes fullback Rod Fanni has not given up hope of joining Atletico Madrid.

A move to Atletico has been rumbling on all summer for Fanni.

The 28-year-old remarked: "They [Atletico Madrid] are still interested in my arrival and it is a good opportunity. As I always said, I want to evolve as a player and to go to Atletico is my priority.

"There are certain things that I do not have control of. My agent is yet to have discussions with the directors of Atletico and Rennes in order to clarify this whole situation.

"I refuse to do another season here in Rennes. It is limiting for me to be in France for another year. We will see in the end if I have to stay or not.

"Anything can happen at any time."
