Released Leicester City defender Robert Huth is interesting Aston Villa.

The Leicester Mercury says Huth is a free agent after Leicester City chose not to extend his contract at the King Power Stadium.

But he may not have to travel far to find a new club with Midlands rivals Villa keen on the former Germany international.

Owing to injury, Huth failed to make a single senior appearance for City last term, but interest remains in the 33-year-old, a three-time Premier League winner with vast experience to offer.

Cash-strapped Villa are searching for a centre-back after John Terry's departure and have spoken to a number of free agents.
