Redknapp: Terry can keep Aston Villa up - as a player!

Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp believes John Terry should come out of retirement at Aston Villa.

Aston Villa have 10 games to save their Premier League skin with a return date pencilled in from June 12 onwards.

Redknapp told That Peter Crouch Podcast: "If I was the manager of Aston Villa and they've got to play them last 10 games, the first thing I'd do is say to John Terry, 'Please get fit.'

"What I'd do is play three at the back and I'd play him in the middle of the three to organise, lead them because I saw them at Bournemouth and they were all over the show. They had no leader, nothing.

"I'd get (Terry) in because he can still play for the last 10 games and maybe keep them in the division. Your John Terrys, they're a dying breed. Where do you find them now?

"He's gone into coaching but what I'd say is, 'Look John, we've got nine games to save our season, we've got four weeks (to get fit), why don't we give it a go? See if you can get yourself fit.'

Redknapp added: "I saw (Terry) last year. I know it's different and Soccer Aid isn't anything like playing Premier League but, you know, I looked at him last year and he ran with Usain Bolt, I swear.

"I'm thinking go on, Usain, run him, you'll murder him but (Terry) ran with him, he was dragging him a bit but he ended up whacking the ball out of play. (Terry returning for Villa) is only an idea I've got."
