Birmingham City boss Harry Redknapp is chasing released Chelsea defender John Terry.
The London Evening Standard says Redknapp will urge Birmingham to meet Terry's £100,000-a-week wage demands and offer him a coaching role in a bid to convince him to drop down to the Championship.
The defender, 36, is available on a free transfer after leaving Chelsea and has attracted interest from Premier League clubs including Bournemouth and West Brom.
Bournemouth are believed to be the favourites to sign Terry because they are prepared to meet his demands and include the option of a second year.
Aston Villa are also keen and any indication Terry would be prepared to play in English football's second tier has alerted Redknapp to the possibility of a major transfer coup.
