Former West Ham boss Harry Redknapp is proud of his work with the club's youth system.
Frank Lampard, Michael Carrick, Rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole and Jermain Defoe all came through under Redknapp, while England international Rice is the latest in the current era.
And he insists that is where his love for management came from at West Ham, told the Daily Star: “We had a great time, I saw all them young players coming through, that was special.
“I never used to miss a youth game, I used to watch the youth team play every Saturday morning when I was at home.
“I went to every youth cup game very so often, I loved it, I used to love watching the kids produce, getting a kid come through the youth team was the best thing ever!"
